How to Use the TheraPump: A Step-by-Step Guide

The TheraPump is the world’s first rechargeable LED penis pump, designed to support penile rehabilitation by promoting healthy blood flow, stimulating collagen production, and encouraging blood vessel growth. It is commonly used in recovery following pelvic surgeries, such as prostate cancer surgery and can help improve erectile function.

This guide explains how to prepare, use and select the correct modes on your TheraPump.

Before You Begin

  • Charge the device for 3 hours before first use. A full charge provides about 1 hour of use.
  • Do not pump for more than 10 minutes per day.

Preparing the TheraPump

  1. Ensure the device is fully charged.
  2. Trim or gently pull back pubic hair if it interferes with a proper seal.
  3. Apply water-based lubricant to the glans (head of the penis) and to the pump sleeve/cuff. Do not use silicone or oil-based lubricants.
  4. Slide the penis through the sleeve into the cylinder and ensure an airtight seal against the body.
  5. If you would like to use LED therapy, press the Light button before starting.

TheraPump Modes

The TheraPump has three pre-programmed modes. For penile rehabilitation, only Modes 1 and 2 are recommended.

Mode 1 – Beginner Rehabilitation

  • Start: Hold the Fan button for 3 seconds.
  • Action: The pump increases to 3.5 PSI for 60 seconds, then releases to zero.
  • Use: Complete 3 cycles only, then stop by pressing the red Release button.
  • Recommended: Use for the first 3–4 weeks of rehabilitation.

Mode 2 – Progressive Rehabilitation

  • Start: Press the Fan button twice.
  • Action: The pump increases to 4.5 PSI for 60 seconds, then releases to zero.
  • Use: Complete 3 cycles only.
  • Recommended: Progress to Mode 2 after 3–4 weeks of Mode 1.

Mode 3 – High Intensity (Not for Rehabilitation)

  • Pressure: 6.6 PSI.
  • This mode is not recommended for rehabilitation purposes.

LED Therapy Use

  • To combine LED therapy with pumping, activate the Light button before starting Modes 1 or 2.
  • After completing your 3 pump cycles, you may continue LED light therapy for up to 10 minutes while resting.
  • The LED light contains no UV, but avoid sun exposure to the treated area for 48 hours.

Precautions

  • Always consult a healthcare professional before starting TheraPump therapy, especially if you have pre-existing conditions or take medications that affect circulation.
  • Stop use immediately if you experience pain, bruising, or unusual discomfort.
  • Follow medical guidance to ensure safe and effective rehabilitation.
